Building a Custom ICF Home Designed for Accessibility
One of our current projects in Elkton uses insulated concrete forms for a custom home with accessibility needs, long spans, and complex architectural details. The home is over 9,000 square feet, sits on a 6-foot crawl space, and stretches more than 220 feet long by 80 feet wide at its widest point.
The scale of this home matters, but the accessibility goals are what shape the build. The layout, wall placement, openings, and day-to-day movement through the home all need to support the homeowner, while still providing the strength and long-term performance of ICF construction.

Radius Block for a Custom Turret
The turret is one of the most custom details on this home, which required radius block to be adjusted to match the shape of the design. Once finished, the turret will stand 2.5 stories tall. Details like this highlight ICF’s flexibility; beyond strength and energy efficiency, our builds can support curved walls, custom shapes, and architectural features that move beyond a standard residential layout.

Why ICF Works for Custom Accessible Homes
ICF construction gives builders and homeowners a way to combine strength, insulation, sound reduction, and design flexibility in one wall system. For a large custom home like Red Brush Road, that combination is especially useful because the structure has to support both the size of the build and the specific needs of the homeowner. If you are planning a custom home, preparing for your first ICF pour, or comparing building materials, our team can help answer any questions you may have.
